The function of the vertebral disc is to allow the stabilization of the columns by supporting and distributing the loads under movement.
There is a nucleus pulposus, which is the central portion of the dicus, a fibrous annulus, these multilaminated fibers, and a capsule.
When the ring breaksfibrous, the disc material comes out of itsposition and the Hernia of the Nucleus Pulposus occurs. If this material contacts a nerve root, it produces pain that radiates down the arm or leg, depending on the level of the spine.
